Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Indoor warmup.

Met MacK, ran 7, 8:09 ave pace, 8.65 total distance.

Will do elliptical later. 

27 minutes on elliptical, then went up to SLC for 30 Seconds to Mars concert.  It was awesome.  Counted as some good exercise, but I had a teriyaki burger and fries from Carls Jr on the way up so that negates all the dancing.  Jared Leto. . .

total distance 9.78, ran 2 with Marion, then walked two with her then ran 5 more.  Warmed up inside before.

Inside warm up, then met MacK.  Ran 8.19 (8:02 ave pace) then walked, 10.23 total distance. 

I wish fudge didn't make us fat.  I have to lose a bit more weight to make goal (sub 130 by xmas) but this time of year I just want to make treats and eat them.  I'll try to be strong, one hour at a time.

Ran in spurts today on the treadmill.  Pretty lame.  Did 2 mile warm up walk then hamstring lunges then my photographer called and said she was ready to go over photos.  So took off did that, then ate lunch with Marion, then ran .5 mile, then received a call I had to take, then ran 2 miles (where I almost upchucked my lunch), then drove son to piano and practiced my duet with my accompanyist, then ran 2.5, then drove more sons to piano, then ran 2 more.  Pace moved up throughout runs.  Didn't have time to dawdle.  Felt good.

Ran with MacK.  It was way cold!  Took a nasty spill, caught myself with my hands, then scraped the side of my knee, but thankfully didn't tear my new, expensive tights.  The fall was in slo-mo, of course, and I hit McKenzie on my way down, and I was so concerned I would make her fall, but thankfully I didn't.  

My stomach felt way empty during the run.  Now cramming down some oatmeal w/banana.

Warm up inside, then went out by my lonesome without music or gps watch and ran what I thought would be close to 11, and it turns out it was 11.1, then walked 1.5 more.  13.1 miles total, need to do abs and perhaps some elliptical later.
