Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

I met MacK and ran outside, it was so wonderful, with short sleeved shirt and shorts.  I am working every day this week but am hopefully not going to have to pull any super early mornings. 7:58 ave pace

Only two cans of soda today.  Starting my caffeine step down. Had a small headache in the evening.

Met MacK for a swift 6, then ran some more.  MacK's in great shape and pulling me up each hill.

My coach gave me mile repeats, 5-6 with 800 m rest, 5:50-6:03 pace.  Since last time I stayed just under 6:00 for 6 repeats, I thought I would try 5 and just try to be 6:00 to 6:03, especially since last week went so stinkily.  What a funny thing for him to do, anyway, giving me mile repeats on tax day.

Here's what I have to say to tax season: 1-5:51, 2-5:50, 3-5:47, 4-5:46, 5-5:42. :P  I am so thrilled!!!  I thought after the first one was faster than I was planning, that I would pay for irrational exuberance, but it turns out I was ok.  The last one was the hardest, but all the splits were good.  Never had a quarter slower than 88.  Hopefully this means I am in better shape and will do ok on my half marathon May 1st.

Ok, totally FAILED to mention that Tyler did the workout with me, helped push the pace, and took the outside of the 1 lane the whole time, so he did 5x1.05 miles, or something to that effect. The workout wouldn't have been the same without him.

MacK and Aub both came and did 1/2 mile repeats and were looking really strong and I am grateful for them coming.

Couldn't feel the knee during the workout, but felt some tightness in the ham.  Standard stuff.

I am excited to go to work with my training, and excited to have time to go to the PT.

So happy tax season is over!  Thanks so much to bloggers who kept commenting even though it might sometimes appear that I wasn't reading them--I totally was and value encouragement.  I'll try to be a better blogging buddy.

Lame run, 3 miles, dropped off jj at piano, three miles, picked up JJ from piano, one mile on tm.  SI niggly during run.  Really slight.

Ran with Mack and Aub, we were cruising along.  They did some tempo toward the end, I just hung behind.  7:37 ave pace.  Legs felt great during.

SI pain started in the evening. Not sure if it was the long run or playing with the kids at Kangaroo Zoo, an inflatable toy place, but was definitely sore by 7 and it increased by bedtime.  Worrisome.

SI pain up to 3-4, affecting walking stride
