Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Met MacK and ran toward SF.  Her foot was hurting her, so she convinced me to leave her with 1.5 to go, and that she would walk, so I ran fast to the car, but I think she kept running and was only a minute behind and I missed her because I went around the first block the wrong way.  You should have seen me barreling down that neighborhood street, though, trying to get to her as fast as possible without accidentally running her over.  I never found her, but her car was gone when I circled back.  I am still looking for definitive evidence that she is alive (the text she sent could have been sent by her murderer, and though less likely, her blog post could have been too--it was longer than usual. . .).

Oh, goodness. Funny post, glad you had fun.

You are a LONE FAITHFUL, how did that happen? Oh well, I fixed it.

Great run, your easy miles are my tempo miles. AMAZING.

That is an interesting stat you have going there. "Driving Miles." I like the idea of using that tracking for something other than shoes.

Good run Michelle!

Did you get some word from MacK yet?

From MichelleL on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 13:25:44

Yeah she's good.

From Kelli on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 16:51:12

Oh, and I just noticed the title of your blog! Whatever, as if you could get thinner! You look amazing already.

Jon - tracking them for my schedule C.

Kelli - just lyrics from a new song out on the radio which explores the shallow concerns of the modern female. I think its funny because on its face its so dang shallow, but actually don't we all feel a boost to our psyche when we drop a couple? Here's another lyric for you: "Sad but true!" (name that band)

From Kelli on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 18:42:46

I need to hear that song, who is it by? I never listen to the radio or watch TV commercials, just and iPod and DVR for me, so I am not good at this!

Let me ask Scott...nope, nothin'. He does not know.

Let me ask my teenager...Metallica? (Really???---that is me speaking. That can not be what you are talking about.)

And, just to comment, it is a sad state of affairs for us women. I get on the scale first thing in the morning and what it says seems to determine my mood for the day. So, I broke it and got rid of it. Now, I can just be happy and live in ignorance.

From Kelli on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 18:46:58

I am back. I just found out my daughter googled those "Metallica" lyrics, she has no clue!! But Scott asked me why I was asking so I showed him your title, and he said, "That is the Lilly Allen song you just put on your iPod a few days ago." Shows you how much I know, I do not even listen to the lyrics! Apparently Scott does, as he is vacuuming and wearing my iPod as we speak.

Metallica baby! I went to a Metallica concert this fall. It was incredible.

Yeah, now listen to the Lilly Allen song and pay attention to the lyrics,

I look at the sun, and I look in the mirror, I'm on the right track, yea I'm onto a winner (from memory)

There is the live version of Sad but True. I had no idea you were a metal head Michelle! I am more classic ac/dc, Van Halen, Scorpions, Led Zeppelin and most everything else.

Metallica ROCKS!

From Kelli on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 23:27:18

Metallica scares me! I would never have pictured you as a fan. I do like AC/DC and Poison, but the rest scare me. OH, and Guns N' Roses, they are my very most favorite. My boyfriend (when I was 15) gave me a Guns N' Roses CD, I think I still have it. Or, wait, was it a tape? I am pretty sure CD's had not been invented yet.

I will listen to the lyrics by Lily Allen tomorrow, I am sure the song is bound to come up while I run for 2+ hours.

From MichelleL on Sat, Feb 07, 2009 at 00:12:08

I love Metallica, not because I like that genre (I don't) but they are the best at what they do.

From jona on Sat, Feb 07, 2009 at 00:23:41

I really like the remakes that they have done!
