Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

I met Ali at 5:45.  We ran almost 2 miles before meeting the 6am group, then we ran toward Leland then to Osborne's.  Ali had to turn around then I had 6 miles on my own, but I got to stop and chat with Clay (such a nice guy!).  The run seemed so long after all this shorter mileage, but I am excited to get back into training.  I am thinking to do a 6 mile progressive tempo next week as my first post marathon workout.  How does that sound?

We are going to the Scarecrow Festival as a family today.  Should be fun.

OTC here you come! You did 2:50 despite the CRAZY conditions. You are an inspiration!

Great job today Michelle. That is great mileage day considering you are only two weeks out from a very hard fought marathon, you must be recovering well. Thanks for stopping and chatting too...

Keep up the good work;-)

6 mile progression tempo next week. It sounds like @#$% if you ask me but I have a little jaded view on life. Actually if your feeling up to it by the end of next week should be just about the right time. I'm going to wait one more week- so 2 weeks from today I'll do some kind of "workout" and see if I'm cut out for another marathon in a couple months.

Great job on your long run! I felt the same, after only doing 6 miles for awhile now, my 15 yesterday felt like it took forever. I am excited too to get back into my reg training. I am ready!

I am with Clyde on this one, my body is just not ready to jump into training again. Either is my mind for that matter. But I think you are such a go getter and that is great.
