Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Well. . .I got out and ran.  Made the mistake of wearing old shoes (my Defyance with 475 miles).  I felt like I had dead legs the first .5 mile, felt like I had just run a marathon.  Then in the second half, I could feel a distinct pain in my right mid ham, and soreness in my left quad.  I stopped and stretched at one mile.  Not a good sign if your ham hurts when you are stretching your calf.  So I turned around after stretching, but let myself add another mile at the end since the soreness in my ham had lessened.  My left achilles area started to hurt in the last 1/2 mile of the run.

I thought today would be an easy 5 and my legs would feel fresh from no running.  :)  I've still got some things to learn.

You do what you can. I'm sure your legs took a heck of a beating as fast as you ran on Saturday. Better hide those shoes for a couple of weeks until your legs have healed.

What do you do for work?

Last year we got toffee. It was yummy.

I am a cpa and the extended returns are all due in 6 days!!!!

Toffee would have been great, mostly because Paul would have eaten more of it.

Josse - don't go away ;D

Clay - sorry man, just finished it off. Too early in the day for chocolate. I'm going to McGraff's tonight though! Very exciting!

Marion - you're right, but it feels good to work through the pain by jogging.
