Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Was supposed to do 14-16 with the last 2-4 at goal hm pace.  So I thought I would run MaryAnn's 10 mile race, with running 4 before the race.  Take the first half of the race easy, then run the last 4 hard. There was only one guy who was going to run the 10 mile race, turns out, but he was going to go my pace the whole time, and the race was going to start late (no sign of MaryAnn) so I started on my own, 5 miles up the canyon then back down was the plan.  The river trail was covered in snow starting at about 3.2 miles, I ran in the snow for about .2, then decided that I would damage something if I continued, so I turned around, bagging the "race".  So the fast guy catches up to me and turns around too, so I start running my fast miles with him.  I stick with him for about 1.4, then he continues strong while I do what I can.  The first 1.4 were 6:10 pace, the 2.6 on my own were about 6:20 pace.  DOWNHILL.  Saturday and Thursday just felt like I was running out of shape.  I feel heavy and unable.  I hope that feeling doesn't stick around.  Pain in my knee afterward, worst it has felt.  Iced it.  Feels fine today (Sunday).  Four days until tax season is over :)  This is my best training in tax season ever.  I am supposed to do 1 mile repeats on Thursday, though.  on 4/15.  Funny!

Great job holding it together during tax season Michelle. I think you did well, the whole season and I bet you anything you will feel much better when you aren't tired and stressed.

funny, we have the same schedule again this week - I had 16 with the last 4 at 1/2 marathon pace, and this Thursday I have mile repeats too (I am dreading them, I enjoyed my tempo run this week though!).

Good luck with the next few days my friend.

I don't know where the random "," came from in my comment ... oh well.

I totally know about that snow. I ran from my house by the lake, up the canyon and was planning 23 to get end going up hill past Big Springs Park (beyond Vivian). We ran into that snow and kept "running" thinking it would melt or go away, and it lasted almost all the way to Vivian park. You can not hold any kind of pace, only hope you don't twist your ankle or fall through to the pavement 3 feet below. I had no idea the snow there was that deep into late March. I wish you could grant your self clemency on 4/15. But you can do it! You're almost there! I feel really guilty in a way adding to your 4/15 exhaustion. At least I got my stuff to you 'pretty early' right? Stay strong, try not to think about late filings.

Bonnie, are you copying my workouts again :D (for those of you who don't know, I've been coached by Bonnie's coach, Greg McMillan for a couple of months now)

Luz, don't be silly it's my job and I am thrilled you came in. It's like a running mate apologizing because I am tired after a workout. But thank you for your thoughtfulness. It was great to talk with you last night. I was feeling down and talking to you made me feel much better. Good luck in Boston. Are you going to wear your bling???

I'm totally going with the "B" stick pin. I think the Tiara should be worn for birthdays and RHPC half marathons only (sorry, I forgot to bring it to yours). As far as the fancy ring and 7 carat solitare neclace.... I don't want to risk being mugged during the marathon--besides, I'm saving those for prizes at the RHPC half. BTW, what happened to Maryann? Did she ever show up?

Also-- neigher of you have to worry about me 'copying' either of your work outs. I come up with my own all by myself. Sure, they are not as structured and they don't get very good results, but I never risk intellectual rights issues this way.

;-) ... I think your workouts get very good results! I am with you on the ring and solitare necklace, I have hear those Wesleyan co-eds can be pretty ruthless!
