Run St. George 2008 in 2:50 or less, gauge whether an OT time is in my future.

Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 8, 6, and 4.

This morning was like a Salem running mixer.  I ran with MacK for five, then saw my friend Marianne and ran with her and her friend for a minute (at first I thought she was Marion, and I asked her what she was doing running way out in Salem-it was still dark).  I also ran with Whitney's dad Andrew who is tapering for TOU.  My taper starts in three days!  I had to focus on pace because I had to be home at a certain time.  I got to my car with three minutes to spare.  No bathroom breaks! Ave pace 8:09.  My legs feel good, still some tightness in ham but no pain.

You are doing a 3 week taper? It's funny, cause I am ramping up from 60 miles this week to 100 next week, so I'm in the anti-taper mode. I forget how close our marathon is.

Jack Daniel's standard marathon and elite marathon training schedules both call for peak mileage six weeks out from race day, then very gradually going down. I figure peaking at 4 weeks (this will be my fourth time at 85) then starting taper in week three is a good compromise. Yep. I like the three week taper. Especially since my body still feels stretched at my peak mileage.

Nice miles! I wish I was running out there with ya'll, but we were low and slow up and down Main St in Payson after 7 :D Congrats on the no VPB's! And yes, what is the Drill Stomp?

Very excited for taper. Someone remind me to not tear apart my home doing projects though.

Stomp drill - someone else asked me about this. It is hard to describe well. Dr. Brady prescribed because I drag my left leg forward, I have a lazy right leg. I do this with both legs but emphasize the right. I rock back and forth with one leg on the street and one on the curb. Then I stand in the street, lift one leg up in front of me with leg bent and then stomp it back down, right next to the other leg. Even though both legs meet the stomping makes you jump forward a bit. I do this stomp repeatedly, gradually working into a walk, propelled just by the stomping leg, then to a run, propelled by the stomping leg. Then I switch legs. Then I repeat. I wouldn't suggest anyone trying to do this drill from this description. It's meant to help correct my lazy leg.

He is awesome but he's always teasing me, so you should try doing that drill in front of him. It is so embarrassing. I'll be at his office too on Monday -- 2:45. Will we cross paths? We could talk through the walls, morse-code like.

Dang it- I am going in at 12:15 :( It's a good thing, you'd hear me screaming :) But not on monday, I am just getting a thing for my fallen arch. He is a funny guy, and it is VERY embarrasing in his office. He makes me run, do weird stretches. I think he makes up stuff just for fun ;) I am SO glad you made me go see him.
