Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 8, 6, and 4.

So hard to fall asleep and stay asleep when I have had a good Sunday nap.  I especially have a hard time if I put on my coach hat, since I self-coach.  I think about upcoming workouts and what I should do, mileage for the next month, up coming races, and it's all highly not conducive to sleeping.

Oh well, so I ran by myself for 11 miles.  Right ham still bothering me.  It started at the lower tendon, shooting up, and by the end of the run that didn't hurt but my upper attachments to my "sitting bone" hurt.  I was debating whether to delay my dr appt since my legs in general feel fine, but the ham needs some work.  My flexibility in my hams has decreased in the last month because of this tightness/soreness even though I am stretching 1-4 times a day.

What Doc do you see? I am wondering if I should have my calf looked at.

Nice race at DesNews. Is that a PR for you?

Marion-I am so sorry your calf didn't react well to your test run this morning. I go to Dr. Brady, a chiropractor who specializes in sports injuries. His office is in Provo. His # is 375-2420. I would make an appointment with him if you haven't made one with someone else. I like him because he's real hands on and will work your legs and find out what the deal is. Wear shorts (I work a skirt the first time and was a super big dork).

Steve - yeah technically it is a PR but my prior PR is a track 10k at sea level. DesNews is altitude, but of course a way downhill course. So I think it was clost to PR effort, but probably not a true PR when you take the elevation drop into account. Still, it was much better than I thought I'd do that day so I'll take it.

Thanks Michelle- I haddn't thought of a chiropractor. I've only been to orthopedic sergeons before and they just want to do surgery :( I'll give him a call. THANKS!! so much!!
