Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 8, 6, and 4.

Ran with the 5am Scenic Drive group at a VERY easy pace.  I think we were averaging 9:45 or so.  I ran with them for 6 miles then stopped for a potty break at a church, which had lots of women exercising in the dark with very relaxing music on (presumably yoga).  I think I would just fall asleep if trying to exercise to that new agey stuff.  Yoga and running are pretty much opposites in my mind.  I ran on my own for 2.3 after that at about 8:10 pace.

I was going to do a couple of miles at race pace but my groin was feeling worse again this morning, some pain in the first mile or so and then niggling the rest of the time, so I just laid off.  Perhaps I'll do a two mile tempo or strides tomorrow.

Did the grocery shopping thing after running and I was cold and miserable.  SF was about 25F this morning, not that cold, but lots of wind swirling old snow all around.  What a miserable town, why do I run and shop there?

That's why I mainly run in Salem and Payson, less wind and for some odd reason it always feels warmer...

You run there because you have such amazing, wonderful friends who live there and you can't live without them . Ha! Ha!

I'm tired of the snow and miss the green! Thanks for sharing the picture...it's the first time I've seen any from your trip.
