Run St. George 2008 in 2:50 or less, gauge whether an OT time is in my future.

Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 8, 6, and 4.

Nice run by my lonesome, contemplating life and where to go from here in my running.  It was about 28F with light snow falling, so it was just about as warm as the race on Saturday.  My groin pain was still present and not quite as good as the second half of last week so I'll have to watch it.

Glad you got back safely. Hope the groin gets feeling 100%. With tax season and a little down time I think it will heal itself up. You are going to go places in your running!

Hi Michelle, great race on Saturday, congratulations. I have started using arnica cream (I have tried the gel as well) on my PF and achilles ... it seems to work. You can get it at any natural food store, and they might have it at a drug store as well. I have a friend who was competing in the cyclocross races this fall (these are hard core!) and she would get really really bruised up. She was taking the tablets and she swore that the helped her bruises heal faster.

Nice run. Groin pain is frustrating, especially on the uphills. I had it for about three weeks after the marathon--couldn't stride at all. But I think the muscle is stronger now. Maybe it's all part of the toughening up.
