Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 8, 6, and 4.

Met Ali at Peteetneet and did  the up and down Payson Canyon run.  I ran .44 before she came and stretched. Reset watch.  We took the first mile easy then went harder.  Tempo for her, marathon - tinman for me.

1 - 8:20, too much chatting not enough tempoing

2 - 7:28, starting to work

3 - 7:27, Ali thinks she's done

4 - 8:01, I coach Ali through the mile

.25 - 8:05 pace, this is to the cattle guard, Ali stops to go potty

.22 - 7:20 pace, I go up and down the mountain, pushing it while she takes her break

.86 - 8:27 pace, steep part of climb, Ali thinks she's done but I don't let her stop, I start hitting my lap button at odd times out of habit, Ali surges a couple of times to give me five

.38 - 9:22 pace, last bit

45:48 to the rock for me, 43:46 for Ali, better than she did last time and better than any of my times last year (see my 7/10/08 blog entry Ali).

In the 7's for the downhill, nice and easy.

Great run today.. How did the knee feel today? I checked your mail box this morning, you had no mail. jk I did run by them but I didn't check.

good job today

That would be scary in a bad way if you had a key to my mail box. I haven't checked it in a week, so perhaps I should do so. You going to come out Saturday? I'm going to be running with the SF group, with some fast miles in there, but most easy. Your horses are neighing.

Oh yeah, and the knee felt fine. My arch on that foot hurt for the first .5 mile, but warmed up and went away. There's always something.

You are awesome. I could benefit from some of your coaching. If you are ever in a mood to go on a slower training run, let me know and we can meet up!! Good work today!!

Who's this Ali girl? Rumors has it she ran her last marathon in 3:25.Why isn't she in the top 12 for marathon times?

From MichelleL on Sep 18, 2008 at 23:09:38

I emailed Sasha about it today.
